Weather update today: Bihar, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh remain in red alert areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin has warned that Northern parts of India will continue to sizzle with the heatwave conditions for the next 3-4 days. On the contrary, there is a high possibility that extremely heavy rainfall will continue to persist over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim for a few days more.

Heatwave alert for Jharkhand, Bihar & Uttar Pradesh
Bihar, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh remain in red alert areas. The Weather Department has anticipated that Bihar and Jharkhand will experience severe heatwave conditions on June 14. In contrast, West and East Uttar Pradesh will have a hot spell from June 14 to June 17. Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar are expected to sizzle from June 14 to June 15. There will be no respite from heatwave in Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana for next four days. Hot weather conditions will likely prevail in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh from June 14 to June 16. Northwest Madhya Pradesh will experience it on June 14 and June 15. Odisha, Uttarakhand, and North Chhattisgarh might get it today.

Favourable conditions for Southwest Monsoon:
The current climate conditions are suitable for further expansion of Southwest Monsoon into additional places of Northwest Bay of Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh for the next 2-3 days.

IMD’s warning for Heavy Rainfall:
The Met Department has identified a cyclonic circulation positioned over Northeast Assam and its surrounding regions. It also added that an east-west channel is expanding from Northwest Bihar to Nagaland in the lower tropospheric levels. As a result of this climatic situation, extremely heavy rainfall might occur over Sub-Himalyan West Bengal and Sikkim for today. It has also been forecast that heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland and Sikkim for a couple of days. An average rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorms is likely to hit Bihar, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand in the following four days. Odisha has been set on alert for isolated heavy rainfall from June 14 to June 17.
