As a non-resident India (NRI), you may need a bank account to send and receive money to your home in India. Or you may have some business affairs in the home country for which you need a local bank account for transactions. What do you do then? You need a bank account in a bank that has multiple branches in India, and at least one in the country of your residence. If you are an NRI who wants to open an SBI account, go through the following procedure:
Collect and fill the NRI Application Form.
Get your application attested by an SBI official or at the Indian consulate. You can also have the application form notarised locally.
Submit the application form with a copy of your passport and initial remittance to a branch of your convenience offering internet banking service in India.
As an alternative, you can also hand over these documents to an SBI branch nearby, if it is available.
You need to specify instructions to open an account in India at the branch of your own choice.

Click the link ‘Online SB Account Application’ available on the home page of www.onlinesbi.sbi to open an account
Or,
You can collect the account opening form from a branch or download it from www.onlinesbi.sbi under the link Registration Forms.
Please visit a SBI Branch with completed form, two passport-size photographs, and KYC documents (original and photocopies).
Make an initial deposit and your account is opened.

You will be needed to carry your passport to start an SBI account.
SBI home loan for NRIs
SBI NRI Home Loan allows many NRIs to get home loans when investing in properties.
SBI also offers to open joint accounts for children of any age with their parents or guardians.
While children above the age of 10 may have their own bank account which would be subject to certain financial limits.
