The first meeting of the new cabinet was held at the residence of PM Modi on Monday, June 10. In the meeting, it was decided to build 3 crore additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

It is a scheme that was started by the Indian government in 2015. The mission of this yojana is to construct a house for poor people who don’t have their own house which is beneficial for both urban and rural areas. Under PMAY, a total of 4.21 crore houses have been built for eligible poor families in the last 10 years. If you have not yet built a permanent house and meet the eligibility requirements for the same, then you can apply for PMAY.

There are two types of PMAY– Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U). This scheme helps people living in temporary houses to get pucca houses. It also gives financial assistance to the people who have land and want to build houses.
Under this scheme, the government provides subsidies on home loans. The amount of subsidy depends on the size of the house and the income level. The banks also provide home loans at low interest rates under this scheme. The maximum repayment period for home loans under the PMAY scheme is 20 years.

Eligibility
The age of the applicant must be 18 years or above to get the benefits of the scheme. The applicant should also be an Indian citizen. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is available for families with an annual income up to Rs 18 lakh. It also varies as per the annual income. The primary eligibility requirement for the PMAY scheme is that the individual should not own any pucca house before applying. No member of the family should have a government job as well. The documents required for the PMAY scheme include an identity card, Address Proof, Income ratio and Property Documents.

Step 3: Register with all your information.
Step 4: Upload the necessary documents
Step 5: Review and submit
To apply offline, you can visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC).
