The Mumbai Coastal Road Project will be open for 16 hours, since the work on connecting the coastal road with BWSL is still underway.
Mumbai Coastal Road Phase 2 Link Road Update: Giving much relief to the people in Mumbai, the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project will be inaugurated on Monday after which the north-bound carriageway from Marine Drive up to Haji Ali will be opened to traffic from June 11. A report by Free Press Journal stated that the construction work on connecting the coastal road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) will be completed by October 2024.
In the meantime, the south-bound carriageway of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project between Worli and Marine Drive was opened for public on March 12. And the second phase of road was expected to open on May 31. However, it got delayed and drew criticism from opposition parties.
Soon after Shiv Sena UBT MLA Aaditya Thackeray criticised the delay in opening of the road, chief minister Eknath Shinde announced the opening of the northbound carriageway on June 10.

Opening of Mumbai Coastal Road Link Road Project: Check Timing
Meanwhile, Bhushan Gagrani, municipal commissioner stated that the opening of the second phase will be announced on Monday and the road will be open for traffic from Tuesday from 7 AM to 11 PM.
The northbound route will be open for traffic for five days a week — Monday to Friday, and will remain closed on weekends due to the rest of the project’s work.

Mumbai Coastal Road Project Check Route Map
The Mumbai Coastal Road project will make travel smooth from Marine Drive towards north to Bhulabhai Desai Marg, Barrister Rajani Patel Chowk (Lotus Jetty), and Vatsalabai Desai Chowk (Haji Ali Chowk).
The under-construction road project also came under controversy after complaints of leakage in the south-bound tunnel in the last week of May. The chief minister himself visited the site and inspected the leakage on May 28.
It should be noted that the 10.58 km-long Mumbai Coastal Road Project is being built by BMC from Princess Street Flyover at Marine Drive to the Worli-end of Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The road has been constructed to ease traffic between south Mumbai and the western suburbs by cutting travel time by 70% and fuel consumption by 34%.

The Mumbai Coastal Road Project that connects south Mumbai to Worli has 8 lanes on the surface, and in the tunnel, it has 6 lanes. Moreover, there will be a dedicated lane for buses as well. The two tunnels of this road project with each measuring 2.072 kilometres in length with an internal diameter of 11 metres are being constructed between Priyadarshini Park and Girgaon Chowpatty.
