As reported by Wabetainfo, this feature was initially tested with a select number of users, but WhatsApp is now committed to providing chat filters to a broader audience. The update, marked as compatible with WhatsApp for iOS 24.10.74, is now available on the App Store. However, while WhatsApp has officially announced the feature, the rollout will be gradual, with some users receiving the feature over the coming weeks. As noted in the official changelog, regularly updating the app from the App Store or TestFlight is recommended to ensure access to the latest features.

Apart from the chat filter feature, the new update for iOS also includes several other improvements. One notable enhancement is the introduction of audio support for screen sharing during video calls, providing a more comprehensive and engaging experience for users. Additionally, WhatsApp has revamped its interface, featuring updated icons and illustrations, further enhancing the visual appeal and usability of the app.

The update also highlights the availability of a passkey feature as an additional means of access, improving the security and ease of use for WhatsApp users. This feature, previously announced in the WhatsApp for iOS 24.9.78 update, adds another layer of protection, ensuring that user data remains secure.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also rolling out the Passkey feature to all users. The feature, which began its rollout on iOS recently, comes six months after it was introduced to Android users. Initially, only some beta testers had access, but according to a WABetaInfo report, passkeys are now available for all iOS users.

The latest WhatsApp for iOS 24.9.78 update is available on the App Store, and the official changelog confirms that the passkey feature is now being widely being rolled out.

What Are Passkeys?

Passkey verification provides multiple authentication options, such as facial recognition, biometrics, or a PIN stored in Apple’s passkey manager. This variety not only offers convenience but also ensures strong security against unauthorised access. With passkeys, iOS users can log back into their WhatsApp accounts without needing a password or a two-factor authentication method via SMS. Additionally, users can log in with a passkey even when they are offline, as the authentication key is stored on their phone.
