Delhi Traffic Advisory: Several roads closed, diversions in place in view of Narendra Modi oath taking ceremony today – Check routes to avoid

In preparation for the swearing-in ceremony, traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced on numerous roads, as per a Delhi Police advisory.

Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement on Sunday (June 9), the day of prime minister’s swearing-in ceremony, particularly those surrounding the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In preparation for the swearing-in ceremony, traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced on numerous roads, as per a Delhi Police advisory.

The ceremony is slated to occur at the Rashtrapati Bhawan from 6 pm onwards, hosting dignitaries and special invitees, including leaders from India’s neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region.

Road closures and pedestrian movement

To ensure seamless traffic management near the Rashtrapati Bhawan, specific roads such as Sansad Marg, North Avenue Road, South Avenue Road, and others will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2 pm to 11 pm. Pedestrian movement will be permitted during this period.

Parking prohibitions

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, with vehicles prohibited from halting or parking on designated roads. Violators will face towing and prosecution for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions. Towed vehicles will be relocated to the Traffic Pit at Pt. Pant Marg towards Gole Dak Khana.

Traffic diversions 

General entry for the public will not be permitted, and DTC buses will be rerouted away from roads near the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Traffic diversions will be implemented at key points to facilitate smooth flow.

Commuters are advised to steer clear of affected roads, including Sansad Marg, Imtiaz Khan Marg, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Road, and others. Those traveling to ISBTs, railway stations, and the airport are urged to plan their journeys meticulously, accounting for potential delays due to the event.
