When in Rishikesh, tourists often visit temples, participate in the Ganga aarti, and engage in popular activities like rafting. Many people, along with their families or friends, take part in these water sports for fun and adventure. While river rafting is supposed to be fun and adventurous, it recently turned violent after two groups clashed near Rishikesh’s Brahmapuri Rafting Point. A video going viral shows the violent clash between rafting guides and tourists, which left many injured.

As per the text along with the post, a group of tourists is seen preparing for a rafting adventure when they are suddenly confronted by the guides, who begin hitting them with paddles. Fellow tourists gather around and witness the shocking clash. The video, shared on the X handle of Ghar Ke Kalesh, shows tourists donning life jackets and gearing up for the adventure, only to be violently struck by the “guides”. This forces many of them to rush away from the river banks in a desperate attempt to escape the confrontation. However, the reason behind the sudden clash remains unknown.

As the video went instantly viral across social media platforms, many took to the comment section and reacted to the scuffle. A user wrote, “They have switched from Atithi devo bhava to Atithi ku to bhava,” while another commented, “Tourists should not be treated like this, then what do you want to tell about your country?”

A viewer shared another similar incident and wrote, “Last summer we were here at the boat dock So after Ganga Aarti these boatmen started beating a tourist taking a bath with oars and picking up big stones. Seeing their attitude the poor family members could neither understand nor do anything. They beat him up and left in a matter of minutes. Peace of Rishikesh..?”
“More than anger towards injury, it seems like business rivalry kicked in,” another user commented. The video clip has garnered over 1 lakh views. Earlier in 2023, another similar incident took place in Rishikesh when a verbal argument between two rafting groups escalated into physical violence. The tourists were seen attacking each other with paddles, forcing others to jump into the river to flee the situation.
