Besides KKR’s brilliance in IPL 2024, there was a plethora of players who garnered the limelight with their exceptional performances. We at News18 CricketNext list down the IPL 2024 Team of the Season.
Sunil Narine (KKR): The most valuable player of the season, Sunil Narine is right there at the top of the order of CricketNext’s IPL team of 2024. The Caribbean all-rounder may have drawn curtains to his international career but his performance in the shortest format remains unmatchable. He ended the season as KKR’s highest-scorer with 488 runs in 15 matches, striking at 180, and also picked up 17 wickets in the tournament.
Virat Kohli (RCB): The ace batter took the Orange Cap this season, leading the charts with 741 runs in 15 matches, including 5 half-centuries and a hundred. He became the first Indian to win the Orange Cap twice in the 17-year-old history of the league. Kohli will now be seen in Indian colours in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, starting later this week.

Sanju Samson (RR) (wk): The Rajasthan Royals skipper had a phenomenal season with the bat. He ended the tournament as the second-highest run-getter for the side, accumulating 531 runs in 16 matches with a strike-rate of 153. A consistent run in the past couple of months helped him find a berth in India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the US.
Shreyas Iyer (KKR) (captain): It was a no-brainer picking the captain of this side. Shreyas Iyer may have had an average season with the bat but he inspired his team – Kolkata Knight Riders – to a third title victory in league history. Under his leadership, KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday in Chennai to lift the IPL trophy for the third time.
Heinrich Klaasen (SRH): The dynamic South African wicketkeeper-batter was a strong pillar in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s star-studded batting line-up. He ended the season as the third-highest scorer in the Orange Army with 479 runs to his credit. He also struck 4 half-centuries with a highest score of 80 not-out, against Mumbai Indians.
Riyan Parag (RR): The rise of Riyan Parag in IPL 2024 was inspirational. He entered the tournament on the back of a phenomenal domestic season and emerged as the highest run-getter for Rajasthan Royals this season. He was also the third-highest scorer of the season with 573 runs in 16 matches, averaging 52 and striking at 149.21.

Tristan Stubbs (DC): Delhi Capitals were blessed to have Tristan Stubbs in IPL 2024. The South African batter stood up on multiple occasions to bail the team out of a precarious situation with his power-hitting. After skipper Rishabh Pant, Stubbs scored the most runs – 378 in 14 matches – for DC this season. His brilliant form also earned him a spot in South Africa’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Kuldeep Yadav (DC): With 16 wickets in 11 games, Kuldeep was the third-best bowler of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. His best performance came against runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium where he returned 4 for 55 in 4 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah (MI): The ace Indian pacer couldn’t finish the season with the Purple Cap but was the biggest positive in Mumbai Indians’ horrendous campaign. Bumrah finished the 3rd-highest wicket-taker of IPL 2024, with 20 wickets in 13 matches.
Mitchell Starc (KKR): Australia’s Mitchell Starc had to face the flak of fans for his slow start in his comeback season. He entered the tournament as the most expensive player in IPL history but had to wait for 3 matches to get his first wicket. But all is well that ends well. He stepped up for his team when it mattered the most. He bagged the Player of the Match awards in the Qualifier 1 and the Finale and picked up a wicket in the first over on both occasions.
Harshal Patel (PBKS): Representing Punjab Kings, Harshal Patel ended up with 24 wickets in 14 games and won the Purple Cap of the season. He is the second Indian bowler after Bhuvneshwar Kumar to win the prestigious award twice in IPL history.
Impact Subs:
Shivam Dube (CSK): The CSK all-rounder very well justified the tag of Impact Player throughout the season. With 396 runs in 14 games, including 3 fifties, Dube powered CSK to big scores on multiple occasions. His power-hitting skills under pressure also landed him a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR): The IPL 2024 turned out to be a dream season for Varun Chakravarthy as he rediscovered his lost mystery. He ended the season as the highest wicket-taker for KKR and also the second-highest, after Harshal Patel, in the tournament with 21 scalps in 15 games and also the IPL trophy.
