Char Dham Yatra: E-Swasthya Dham App Launched For Pilgrims’ Treatment As Death Toll Reaches 29 In 10 Days

Char Dham Yatra Update: In the previous ten days of the Char Dham yatra in Uttarakhand, 29 pilgrims have died, largely as a result of heart diseases and the harsh weather conditions that they faced in the high altitude zone. Meanwhile, the state government has launched the e-Swasthya app to improve healthcare services for pilgrims. The deaths, largely owing to heart problems, occurred at the shrines of Badrinath, Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kedarnath. Shashi Kant, a 49-year-old pilgrim from Surat, died after suffering cardiac arrest while visiting the Badrinath temple. His demise added to a total of four fatalities at the site.

Govt Launches E-Swasthya Dham App

The Uttarakhand Government’s Department of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with WISH (Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare), has launched a pioneering initiative called “e-Swasthya Dham” to improve healthcare and monitoring systems for pilgrims visiting the sacred Char Dham Yatra. This “e-Swasthya Dham” is a specialised online tool that has been meticulously created to track pilgrims’ health status during their journey. This platform, which is seamlessly connected with the current Char Dham registration portal on the tourist site, allows pilgrims to readily access their medical data using their ABHA ID, assuring quick retrieval of vital health information.

Every devotee is required to upload their medical records onto the e-Swasthya Dham application. The health department will provide on-site health screenings for devotees. At these screening locations, doctors from the Hans and Wish Foundation will be in addition to those from the health department.

Health Screening Mandatory For People Aged Above 50

According to the chief secretary, it will be simpler for the administration to treat devotees in an emergency if they accurately record their medical history at the time of registration. The government will also find it simpler to effectively manage its medical resources if the medical histories of devotees are available. In addition, pilgrims over 50 years of age will need to undergo a health examination.

For uninterrupted access to vital health information, the web app will be continuously updated, minimising the risk of technical glitches. Pilgrims are encouraged to enroll by visiting “https://eswasthyadham.uk.gov.in”.
