Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 5 Voting Date and Time: After the conclusion of voting in four out of seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13 respectively, the stage is all set for the fifth phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which will take place on May 20. In this phase, polling will take place across 49 Lok Sabha constituencies covering 6 states and two UTs. Some major states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra will cast their ballots in Phase 5. The vote counting will take place on June 4.

Phase 5 Voting in Lok Sabha 2024: Date and Time
The fifth phase of the 18th general Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for May 20. Voting will commence at 7 AM and conclude at 5 PM.

In this phase, a total of 49 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 8 states and union territories will go to polls. The states in the fifth phase are Bihar (5), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Jharkhand (3), Ladakh (1), Maharashtra (13), Odisha (5), Uttar Pradesh (14), West Bengal (7).
A total of 695 candidates from 8 states and union territories will contest in this phase. Across these regions, 1586 nominations were filed for the 49 parliamentary constituencies. The deadline for filing nominations for Phase five for all 8 states/UTs was May 3, 2024. Following scrutiny, 749 nominations were deemed valid.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 1, 2, 3 and 4 – A Recap
In the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, voter turnout dipped again. About 67.25% of eligible voters participated across 96 constituencies in 10 states and Union territories. This is just a bit less than the 68.8 per cent turnout seen in 2019. However, the final turnout, to be released on Friday, might increase as all polling station reports are considered.
The decline in voter turnout has been a trend in the earlier phases as well. In the first phase, 66.14 per cent of voters participated, down from 69.89 per cent in 2019. In the second phase, 66.71 per cent turned out, compared to 69.64 per cent previously. While the third phase saw a turnout of 65.68 per cent a decrease from 67.3 per cent in 2019.
Jammu and Kashmir notably saw a significant increase in turnout, rising from 14.39 per cent in 2019 to 37.98 per cent this time. Telangana and Odisha also experienced slight increases. In Telangana, 64.74 per cent voted compared to 62.69 per cent in 2019, while Odisha saw 73.97 per cent turnout compared to 73.95 per cent previously. The Election Commission reported peaceful polling, with some stations staying open past 6 pm to accommodate voters still in line. Overall, 17.7 crore eligible voters across 1.92 lakh polling stations participated in this phase.
