Dry Days In Mumbai: Liquor Shops And Bars To Remain SHUT For 4 Days From May 18 To June 4; Check Details

Ahead of the fifth phase of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the administration in Mumbai city has announced dry days to be observed from May 18 to 20. Maharashtra will go to polls in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections on May 20. Mumbai, Palghar, Kalyan, and Thane are among the key constituencies in Maharashtra that are going to polls.

According to reports, wine shops and bars in Mumbai will remain shut on May 18 from 5 pm onwards. The closure will continue on May 19 and open only on May 20 at 5 pm. On the day of polling, all wine shops and bars will remain closed throughout the day. These restrictions on the sale of alcohol are implemented to maintain public order.

Upcoming Dry Days in Mumbai

Additionally, another dry day will be observed in Mumbai on June 5, coinciding with the counting of votes until the election results are officially declared. These measures are crucial in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process. It is imperative for all stakeholders to cooperate and adhere to these regulations to maintain a peaceful and orderly electoral environment.

List of Dry Days in Maharashtra

  • 18 May, Saturday – Pre-election (Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, and Mumbai. 5pm onwards)
  • 19 May, Sunday – Pre-election (Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, and Mumbai)
  • 20 May, Monday –Polling day (Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, and Mumbai. Until end of voting hours)
  • 4 June, Tuesday– Counting day

Meanwhile, the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) Mumbai has launched the “Democracy Discount” programme, offering a 20 per cent discount on dine-in bills for Mumbai residents who have participated in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, after showing their inked fingers. The discount will be applicable on 20 and 21 May, the dates coinciding with the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the city.
