Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Seeking Removal Of Arvind Kejriwal From Delhi CM Post

Another big relief for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as Supreme Court of India has dismissed the plea filed against him, seeking his removal from the post of Chief Minister.

New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been released on interim bail by the Supreme Court of India in the Delhi Excise Policy Case; he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, 2024. The AAP Chief will remain on interim bail till June 1 and is expected to surrender on June 2, 2024 to the authorities; while he is allowed to campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, he cannot make any comment about his role in the Delhi liquor scam case or attend office as Chief Minister. SC Dismisses Plea Seeking Removal Of Kejriwal From Delhi CM Position

As mentioned earlier, the apex court has dismissed the plea seeking removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the position of Delhi Chief Minister. The bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta have dismissed the plea and said in the order, “We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned judgment. The Special Leave Petition is dismissed.”

‘We Will Not Interfere… It Is Up To Delhi LG VK Saxena To Act’

The bench has refused to interfere in the matter nd ha also said that it is up to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to act on this if he wants to. Justice Sanjiv Khanna was quoted by Live Law as saying, “What is the legal right? Why should we go into all this? On propriety you may certainly have something to say but no legal right. Let the LG take action if he wants to….we are not inclined.”

The interim bail has also been granted to the Delhi Chief Minister by the same bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta. The bench had said, “Power to grant interim bail is commonly exercised in a number of cases. Interim bail is granted in the facts of each case. This case is not an exception.”
