The Department of Posts introduced the Niva Bupa Accidental Policy and Niva Bupa Health Insurance. This initiative offers a comprehensive safety net for individuals aged 18 to 65, with the policy available at an affordable premium of Rs 755 for a one-year term. In the unfortunate event of an accident resulting in death or disability, the policy ensures a substantial payout of Rs 15 lakh to the nominee.

To be eligible for this policy, applicants must hold an account with the India Post Payment Bank. The policy’s benefits extend beyond death and total disability, offering up to Rs 15 lakh for partial disabilities as well.
Additional provisions include a weekly coma benefit of Rs 15,000 for up to 10 weeks after a three-month period, accident medical reimbursement (IPD) up to Rs 1 lakh, Rs 25,000 for broken bones and up to Rs 10,000 for burns, according to a specified grid. Policyholders also have access to unlimited doctor consultations.

The policy’s coverage is not limited to accidents as it also provides financial assistance for family needs such as education and marriage. In the event of the policyholder’s demise or incapability during the policy term, a sum of Rs 1 lakh is available to support educational expenses or marriage costs within the family.

Syed Faraz Haider Nabi, the Senior Postal Superintendent of Agra Division, said that the policy is a collaboration between Niva Bupa Health Insurance and the Postal Department. As part of this partnership, individuals can secure a one-year insurance policy for a premium of Rs 755. The policy provides coverage and benefits in the event of an accident or death, in accordance with the terms specified in the policy.
