Lo and behold, the new seventh-generation iPad Pro is here. With a chassis slimmer than any air or even nano, and guts to look straight into the eyes of your laptop without blinking, this new iPad Pro is a complete overhaul to its predecessor from 2022. It’s packing a new OLED screen, a more powerful M4 chip, and it supports the brand-new Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard update that brings a bigger trackpad, aluminium palm rest and dedicated function row. Basically, if any iPad ever had a chance to replace your laptop, well, this is it.
The iPad Pro as expected is available in two screen sizes but they are ever so slightly bigger from the previous generation. Plus, Apple will also offer nano-textured glass variants with zero-glare for professionals looking to splurge on technology like that for the absolute best in the business (it only comes with higher-level storage tiers). There are a bunch of other updates too, like, where even did the second back camera go? While the camera on the front—called TrueDepth—has been moved to a landscape position.

Apple iPad Pro 2024: Everything you need to know in 10 points
- Design: It’s important to talk about design because of how impossibly thin Apple has made it. The new iPad Pro in fact is being billed as its thinnest product ever beating the yesteryear classic iPad Nano. The 13-inch model is only 5.1mm thin. The 11-inch model just 5.3mm. The 11-inch version weighs only 444g (Wi-Fi) while the 13-inch version is just 579g. Both models have aluminium enclosures and come in a choice of either space black or silver.
- Display: The new iPad Pro has an OLED display, a first for any iPad (even though iPhone has had it for years now). Apple is using a technology called tandem OLED that uses light from two OLED panels to provide “phenomenal” full-screen brightness— that is up to 1000 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content, and 1600 nits peak for HDR. The new screen is called Ultra Retina XDR and both 13- and 11-inch models are getting it in equal measure. Rest of the package is typical pro iPad so, you get all sorts of things like ProMotion (adaptive 120Hz refresh rate) and True Tone. Apple says the iPad Pro has an anti-reflective coating on the product page but just to be sure, it will also sell you a “nano-texture display glass” option on 1TB and 2TB models to reduce glare to zero.
- Processor: The new iPad Pro marks the global debut of Apple’s M4 chip— strange but true. It’s wild for Apple to release a new chip and put it inside an iPad of all things before any other Mac. But stranger things have happened and if anything, it’s a message that iPad still holds pinnacle position in Apple’s ever-growing product portfolio and it wants to supplement it with the latest and greatest technology available. The iPad Pro didn’t even get the M3. It jumped straight from M2 in the 2022 model to M4 today. A little bit about the M4 chip— it is based on a second-generation 3-nanometre technology and comes with up to a 10-core CPU (50 percent faster than M2) and a 10-core GPU (4x faster than M2), though only models with 1TB/2TB storage are getting the full-blown version. Models with 256GB/512GB storage will have one less core on the CPU side (9 versus 10). Hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing chops will be available on the iPad Pro. So will the dedicated 16-core NPU with 38 trillion ops/second capability, but how the iPad Pro will be able to use it for AI will be known at WWDC 2024.
- Memory: Apple is doubling down on storage in this generation and will offer a choice of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB memory. The 1TB and 2TB models have 16GB of RAM while the 256GB and 512GB have 8GB RAM.
- Camera: The iPad Pro has a single 12-megapixel rear camera (with 4K video) and another 12-megapixel camera on the front, now in a landscape orientation. Read More: Infinix GT 20 Pro Teased: Gaming-Centric Phone Likely To Debut This Month; Check Specs
- Speakers: The iPad Pro has four speakers.
- Connectivity: The new iPad Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E and 5G along with Bluetooth 5.3. Apple is going completely eSIM in this generation. The USB Type-C port has Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 speeds (40Gb/s).
