Student Of The Year 3 will not be a film but a web series. In April, Karan Johar had confirmed the same during the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh.
After her successful stint in Bigg Boss 17, Ankita Lokhande is on a success spree. News18 Showsha has exclusively learnt that the actress was recently offered Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 3. However, the ‘Pavitra Rishta’ star has rejected it.
A reliable source close to the actress told us that Ankita was offered Student Of The Year 3, which will be a web series, but she turned down the opportunity to be a part of Karan Johar’s project for reasons best known to her. “Yes, Ankita was approached for Student Of The Year 3. I am not sure about the role she was offered but she was definitely asked if she could be a part of the SOTY franchise. However, she has rejected the offer and nobody knows the reason behind her decision,” the insider informed us.
The first Student Of The Year film was released in 2012 and marked the launch of three newcomers into the industry – Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan. The second film in the franchise was released in 2019 with Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in the lead.
But this time, Student Of The Year 3 will not be a film but a web series. In April this year, Karan Johar confirmed the same during the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh when he also mentioned that the upcoming web series will be directed by Reema Maya of Nocturnal Burger fame. “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series,” he said.
Several reports also claim that KJo is planning to cast Shanaya Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the Student Of The Year 3. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.

Meanwhile, Ankita Lokhande was recently seen in the film, Swatantra Veer Savarkar, which also starred Randeep Hooda in the lead. The film, released on March 22, is based on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his contribution during the Indian Independence struggle. Besides this, Ankita’s music video with her businessman husband, Vicky Jain was also released recently. It was titled Laa Pila De Sharaab.
