WhatsApp has been rapidly introducing new features aimed at enhancing user experience and convenience. The latest addition is the ability to pin multiple messages within chats. While the platform initially limited the number of pinned messages to one, it has now expanded this limit, allowing users to pin up to three messages per chat.

Although WhatsApp already offered a pin message feature with a limit of one, since last year, the Meta-owned platform has been testing the multiple chat pinning feature. After development, the feature was made available for beta testers and is now finally being rolled out to the public, including Android, iOS, and web users. Just like pinning contacts, pinning multiple messages within the chat box helps users keep significant information readily accessible and reduces the effort required to repeat the same messages multiple times.
How to Pin Multiple Messages in WhatsApp
The process for pinning multiple messages on WhatsApp is similar to pinning a single message:
Select a message: In the chat, tap and hold the message you wish to pin.
Choose “Pin”: Tap on “more options” and select “Pin” from the three-dot overflow menu.
Set duration: Choose the duration for the pin (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days) and confirm.
How to Unpin a Message
Select the pinned message: Tap and hold the pinned message in the chat.
Choose “Unpin”: Tap on “Unpin” and confirm.
Notably, users can pin up to three messages per chat, whether in individual or group conversations. Once pinned, the selected messages stay at the top of the chat as a banner for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days, depending on the chosen duration.

Alternatively, users can star messages for quick personal reference later, which doesn’t have a limit on how many messages can be starred. This is a useful option if only the individual user needs access to the message, rather than making it visible to the entire group.
Meanwhile, in group chats, group admins can control whether members can pin messages in group chats. By navigating to “Group Settings” and adjusting the “Edit Group Settings” option, admins can enable or disable members’ ability to pin messages.
Also, when a message is pinned in a group chat, a system message is shared with all participants, indicating the action and who pinned the message. However, new members who join the group after a message is pinned, or those who have cleared their chat history, may not see the pinned message. Additionally, if the pinned message is deleted before the pin duration expires, the pin will automatically be removed.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on several new features to enhance its Channels experience. According to WABetaInfo, the messaging app is streamlining the process of creating and discovering channels by introducing a more accessible entry point and improving navigation for users. WhatsApp is also planning to add a verified badge within the channel list to help users easily identify verified channels, a feature absent in the current app version.

The redesign includes placing the recommended channels section at the bottom of the list, simplifying the process for users to find and follow fresh content. Additionally, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will enable users to perform bulk actions on multiple channels simultaneously, such as muting, marking as read, or pinning them.
