We are just one day removed from the announcement of the teams for the T20 World Cup 2024. The deadline set by the ICC for the 20 participating teams to submit their provisional squad is May 1 and so far, only New Zealand have announced the 15-member squad. However, in the next two days, all teams will announce their respective T20 World Cup squads.
India’s T20 World Cup squad selection is a hot topic even amid IPL 2024, rather the ongoing IPL seems to have piqued interest for India’s 15-member T20 squad with all the Indi hopefuls trying to stake claim for a spot in the 11-man squad. Rohit Sharma is confirmed as the skipper, and in all likelihood, Hardik Pandya will be his deputy. Rishabh Pant, returning from a horrific injury, and Jasprit Bumrah – with their performances in IPL2024 – more or less seem to have booked their places in the squad, and so has Virat Kohli. Players Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, on the other hand, have put performances that is hard to ignore, while a few seemed to be lagging.
The Indian selection panel comprising chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, captain Rohit Sharma, and coach Rahul Dravid has a tough task on their hands to pick the best 15.
