Director-producer Rajan Shahi made waves recently after removing lead actors Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe from the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai in March. Speaking to Telly Talk India, Rajan shed light on the reasons behind their termination. He explained that Pratiksha’s behavior had become problematic, with instances of tantrums and walking out of scenes. Rajan also revisited the termination of Hina Khan from the show, praising her hard work over their six-year collaboration but mentioning issues that arose in the last few months leading to her departure.

Shahi revealed that timing became a problem and Hina started interfering with the script, causing friction. Despite a mutual agreement to part ways, tensions escalated. Recalling an incident Rajan Shahi said, “One day, the shoot was going on and Hina didn’t want to say some lines that were in support of Shivangi Joshi’s character Naira. There was a certain level of script interference where Hina refused to say those lines. That day I told her she would have to do the scene as it was, when she didn’t agree I told her to either shoot or leave the set.”
Rajan further narrated that she sat in the makeup room the whole day, and at night when she left the set, she was messaged that her services were terminated and that she need not come on set anymore. Despite shooting the scene the next day, Rajan decided to end their association.
