With Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 26, liquor shops across Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency will remain closed for a period of 48 hours from Wednesday evening, officials said. District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Srivastava emphasized that the enforcement of the order would be strictly ensured in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Violators will face legal action, including penalties or jail time, in compliance with the rules.
Srivastava highlighted that as per regulations, liquor outlets must close down 48 hours ahead of the election. Therefore, all authorized liquor outlets in the area will shut from 6 pm on Wednesday (April 24) until 6 pm on Friday (April 26) or the end of voting time.
During the period of closure, any person found selling liquor illegally would face strict legal action, including penalty or jail term, as per Excise laws, he added. Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency goes to polls on April 26 in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Paid Holiday For Govt, Private Job Employees
In a proactive move to promote voter turnout, Gautam Budh Nagar’s Chief Electoral Officer and District Magistrate, Manish Kumar Verma, has announced a one-day paid leave on April 26 for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. This decision aims to facilitate and encourage all eligible employees, both in the public and private sectors, to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
The holiday will be paid, and the order is applicable for all the eligible employees working in the public as well as private sector. As per the order, all eligible employees, including those working in government as well as private sector, business, commercial or industrial sectors, are entitled to a paid holiday on polling day. However, an eligible employee will have to be a registered voter of Gautam Budh Nagar constituency.

During the announcement, the District Magistrate urged all employees to strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. He cautioned against any violations of the established rules and regulations, emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
