After the Lok Sabha elections, people in the country should prepare themselves to spend more on mobile recharge. The mobile service providers have made all the preparations to increase the tariffs. This simply means that mobile recharges will become expensive after the elections. The companies have fully prepared for this and have also decided how much money they want to increase this time.
According to the Antique Stock Broking report, tariffs in the telecom industry are estimated to increase by 15 to 17 per cent after the general elections. The general elections will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.

As per this report, the tariff hike in the telecom industry has been pending for a long time and it is believed that the hike is certain after the elections. Bharti Airtel will be the most benefited from this. The report states that we hope that the industry will increase the charges by 15 to 17 per cent after the elections. The fee was last increased in December 2021 by about 20 per cent. This means that the tariffs will be hiked after about 3 years.
The 17 per cent hike means that a Rs 300 recharge will cost Rs 351 after the hike. Presenting the average profit per user (ARPU) of Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom company, the Brokerage Note said that the company’s current ARPU is Rs 208, which is for the financial year 2026-27.
There is a possibility that it may end up reaching Rs 286. The report states, “We expect Bharti Airtel’s customer base to grow at about two per cent per year, while the industry grows at one per cent per year. The report states that Vodafone Idea’s market share has fallen from 37.2 per cent in September 2018 to almost half that, i.e. 19.3 per cent in December 2023. Bharti’s market share has increased from 29.4 per cent to 33 per cent during this period. Jio’s market share has increased from 21.6 per cent to 39.7 per cent during this period.
