The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the T20 WC squad soon. With time running out, speculations are rife over who would make the squad and who would miss out. While fans and plaudits sweat over this, we list the players who are likely to miss the flight to the USA.
KL Rahul: Despite all his quality, Rahul may not find a spot in the side. He has competition from a number of players like Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel. Also, with the brand of cricket Rahul plays, he may not be on the flight to the US. With Rahul, strike-rate has been an issue in the shortest format.
Ishan Kishan: The left-handed swashbuckling opener has not been in very good form and he also finds himself at the wrong end with the Indian board. Also, with plenty of options available, it is highly unlikely Kishan finds a spot in the side.
Mohammed Siraj: Till about three weeks back, Siraj was a certainty in the absence of Mohammed Shami – but now, things have changed. Mayank Yadav has taken the world of fast bowling by storm. And now, there are whispers, that he will make it to the WC squad.
Shreyas Iyer: The stylish right-hander was part of the ODI WC squad where he hammered three centuries, but at the T20 WC – things are different. With Suryakumar Yadav in the mix, it is next to impossible for Iyer to find a spot in the squad.
