WhatsApp, a Meta-owned messaging platform, continues to work on new features to bring fresh enhancements to users. In the latest update to improve user experience, the company is now working on the option to suggest contacts they can have a chat with on the platform, according to WABetaInfo. The feature was spotted on the Android beta version “2.24.7.23”.

According to the WhatsApp tracker, the “Suggested contacts” feature is “under development”, and it is not rolling out to beta testers at the time of filing. In the screengrab shared in the report, a new option within the chats list is available on WhatsApp that may suggest contacts. In the screengrab of the chat. This section will suggest new contacts which you can start chatting with on the app to initiate conversations. The option may sit at the bottom of the main chat window for easy access. WABetaInfo noted that the platform may recommend contacts that you have never interacted with to promote new connections and interactions.

These will likely appear once the user registers on the platform for the first time. This option can help improve the chat experience on the platform for new users. It can allow WhatsApp contacts to chat more often, boosting engagement between connections. For users who may not prefer a separate space to start chatting with new users, the feature will also have an option to dismiss it, according to WABetaInfo.
Beta testers must keep their app updated to try out the feature whenever it starts rolling out to testers. Meanwhile, amid testing AI-powered chat and photo editing tools, the company is also working on an improved UI for the calling screen on the platform.
