Vivo might soon release its foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 3, in India after its launch in China on March 26. This phone is being promoted as the thinnest foldable phone ever and runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. In India, the market already has two popular foldable devices: the OnePlus Open and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It will be interesting to see how Vivo, known for its camera-focused phones lately, competes with these big players.
As per a report by 91Mobiles, Vivo X Fold 3 will also be launched in India. What’s interesting is that it’s touted to be the thinnest foldable phone in the market. To put it in perspective, its predecessor, the X Fold 2, is already pretty sleek at 12.9mm thick for a foldable device. However, this new phone is expected to be even slimmer. If the rumors hold true, the X Fold 3 would be comparable in thickness to some regular smartphones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Google Pixel 8 Pro, which are around 8.6mm and 8.8mm thick, respectively.
Notably, Vivo launched the X Fold 3 and the X Fold 3 Pro in China on March 26 and here are the specifications of the two phones.
The Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro come with the same OLED displays. The external screen measures 6.53 inches with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels, while the internal display is 8.03 inches with 2,748 x 1,172 pixels. Both screens boast a LTPO 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The X Fold 3 Pro features an integrated ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner, whereas the standard variant has a side-mounted scanner.

In terms of design, both variants of the Vivo X Fold 3 series sport a circular rear camera module. The standard variant claims to be the thinnest foldable phone, measuring just 4.65mm when folded. It also weighs less than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, coming in at 219 grams. Vivo highlights that the X Fold 3 series incorporates a carbon-fiber ultra-durable lightweight hinge. Additionally, the foldable phone has earned the first Swiss SGS five-star drop-resistant certification, thanks to the armor glass. Both the Pro and standard models are water-resistant, with IPX8 and IPX4 certifications, respectively.
When it comes to taking photos, both versions of the Vivo X Fold 3 series have three cameras on the back. They all have a main camera with 50 megapixels and another one with 50 megapixels for wide-angle shots. The regular version has an extra 50-megapixel camera for portrait photos, while the X Fold 3 Pro has a 64-megapixel camera that can zoom in three times and has a focal length of 70mm. For selfies, both phones have a 32-megapixel camera that sits in a small hole on the screen.
Inside, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the regular version uses an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Both phones can have up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The X Fold 3 has a battery that can hold 5,500mAh and can charge really fast at 80W, while the Fold 3 Pro has a bigger battery of 5,700mAh that charges even faster at up to 100W. The Pro version also supports wireless charging at 50W.
Both phones have stereo speakers for good sound quality and support Wireless Lossless Hi-Fi audio. They can connect to WiFi-7, use 5G with two SIM cards, control IR devices like TVs, and use NFC for things like contactless payments.
