Noida Police Clarifies After Viral Video Shows Boy Being ‘Thrown’ into Ashes of Holika Dahan

In a shocking turn of events, a video surfaced capturing the distressing moment when a young boy was hurled into the ashes of Holika Dahan, a Hindu festival symbolising the triumph of good over evil. This unsettling incident reportedly unfolded in the Bisrakh village, Greater Noida, as a group of 5-6 individuals callously tossed the boy into the smouldering ashes of the ceremonial bonfire.

The CCTV footage captured people joyously celebrating the festival until these mischievous boys entered the scene and swiftly threw the boy into the hot ashes. The boy, visibly in pain and likely suffering burns, immediately tried to flee the ashes. He was later seen running away with people around him trying to assist. Some were consoling him, but eventually, he put on his footwear and left the scene. Local reports indicated that the youth suffered burns on his feet, requiring medical attention.

The corresponding post, shared by a user identified as Kavita Chauhan Journalist, also featured images of the injured legs, indicating burns sustained by the boy. Additionally, the incident was pinpointed to have occurred at ‘Gaur City Galaxy One’.

Following the video going viral, concerns were raised, and people demanded police action.

“Sometimes friends become more dangerous than enemies. All of you take care of yourself,” cautioned one user. Another added, “Aajkl new generation ka mind set ho gya hai to do something memorable, intentions are not wrong just wants to do memorable that’s and some time it cause even death or heavy penalty.”

Meanwhile, law enforcement acknowledged the post, with the DCP of Central Noida addressing the viral footage by stating (in Hindi), “When Bisrakh police station investigated, it was found that the said child was playing with his friends and while playing, he had fallen on the ashes left after the burning of Holika. This was not done by anyone. No complaint has been received at the police station in this regard.”

However, public sentiment diverged from the police account, with many maintaining that the video depicted a deliberate and malicious act rather than an innocent mishap.
