Toll Price Hike: NHAI Increases Toll Fee On Delhi-Meerut Expressway From April 1, Check Latest Rates

If you are planning a roadtrip in April, you might need to budget for higher toll charges on national highways and expressways as the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is gearing up to implement an increase in toll tax starting from April 1. The NHAI has initiated the process of determining new toll rates, which is expected to impact thousands of drivers using key routes like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway. According to reports, the toll tax is set to rise by 5-10%. Light vehicles such as cars will incur an additional 5% charge per trip, while heavy vehicles could face a 10% hike in toll tax.

Currently, the toll tax stands at Rs 2.19 per kilometre on the expressway. With the proposed increase, drivers can anticipate a surge in travel expenses along the 135 km long, six-lane Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The toll hike aims to generate additional revenue for infrastructure development and maintenance.

Revised toll rates

Currently, the toll for a car trip from Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan is Rs. 160 and for light vehicles, it is Rs. 250. The upcoming 5% hike will lead to a proportional rise in these charges. Similarly, the toll fee for cars traveling from Meerut to Indirapuram is Rs. 110, with light vehicles being charged Rs. 175.

Additionally, the journey from Meerut to Dundahera currently costs Rs. 85 for cars and Rs. 140 for light vehicles. These toll rates will also be adjusted by 5%, in line with the NHAI’s directive. The increment in toll charges is aimed at supporting infrastructure development and maintenance along these routes.

The Delhi-Meerut Expressway stretches 59.77 kilometres from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Partapur in Meerut with the final toll plaza being located at Kashi.

The expressway has six entry/exit points at Sarai Kale Khan, Indirapuram, Dundahera (Vijay Nagar), Dasna, Rasoolpur Sikrod, Bhojpur and the main toll plaza is located at Kashi in Meerut.
