The MeT department has predicted clear skies in Chennai with maximum temperatures ranging between 31 and 30 degrees Celsius
Enhanced rainfall activity along with thunderstorms is predicted over northeast India and sub-Himalayan West Bengal till March 25, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in its latest weather bulletin.
Due to a cyclonic circulation over north Jharkhand, fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorms & lightning is likely in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal for next few days.
In southern India, parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala will see rain spells with gusty winds. In Chennai, the MeT department has predicted clear skies with maximum temperatures ranging between 31 and 30 degrees Celsius today.
Delhi to see clear conditions
The IMD office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi today with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to settle at 33 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below the seasonal average, as per IMD. Humidity levels oscillated between 84 percent and 44 percent during the day, it said.
The national capital on Wednesday recorded the highest maximum temperature at 33.6 degrees Celsius since January, the IMD said.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category with a reading of 170, according to the Central Pollution Control Board data.

Rains and snowfall in hills
A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 23. Under its influence, rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorms & lightning is very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh today.
Hailstorms are also likely in upper parts of J&K and Himachal with strong surface winds reaching 25-35 kmph. Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall and snowfall are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim till March 25.
