Making adjustments to an EPF account: During his or her employment, an employee can alter 11 parameters in their EPF account.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has revised the standard operating procedure (SOP) for obtaining joint declarations (JD) to rectify errors in employers’ and members’ Universal Account Number (UAN) profiles. Additionally, the EPFO has outlined the process that field offices must follow when making adjustments.

According to the SOP amendment notification issued by EPFO on March 11, 2024, people can now submit an Aadhaar card bearing the member’s father/mother’s name, a PAN card, a 10th or 12th mark sheet bearing the father/mother’s name and a driver’s licence when applying to change their parents’ names.
Furthermore, when employees withdraw funds from their EPF account, providing incorrect information or entering it mistakenly can lead to various issues. Errors such as misspelt names, incorrect dates of birth, or inaccurate dates of joining may result in the suspension of PF payouts. However, there are limitations on the number of modifications or changes an EPF member can make to their profile. During their employment, an employee can modify 11 factors.

A member can request changes to up to five of the aforementioned eleven criteria during regular business hours, as long as they are submitted through a single or several Joint Declaration (JD) requests. However, it is important to highlight that these modifications may end in fraud or a complete change of the individual’s identity.
“In case the changes are in more than five parameters, the matter will be thoroughly examined by the OIC, and only after duly recording the reasons in the file such cases should be processed.
