Weather Update: IMD predicts rainfall in THESE states; Delhi to see cloudy conditions today – Check full forecast

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 20

Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms will prevail over east & central India from March 16 to 19, India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in the latest weather bulletin.

Owing to a cyclonic circulation, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh till March 20.

Meanwhile, isolated hailstorms are also likely over Vidarbha on March 17 and 18 and East Madhya Pradesh on 18 and 19. Isolated light rainfall/snowfall is also very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim today.

Cloudy sky in Delhi 

The MeT department has predicted a partly cloudy sky in the morning and clear skies in the afternoon in Delhi today.

The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 12 and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively. As per the IMD report, clear weather conditions were observed in the city during the current week from March 9 to 15.

On Friday, the maximum temperature in Delhi dropped to 28.7 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season, according to IMD.

The city recorded a low of 13.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, the IMD’s bulletin showed.

“Both the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise in the next few days. The maximum temperature will likely rise by three to four degrees Celsius on Saturday whereas the minimum temperature will drop, but it will rise the day after,” Head of Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, Kuldeep Srivastava said.

Western disturbance in hilly regions

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 20. Under its influence, spells of snow and rains are expected in hilly regions like Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh till March 21.

Meanwhile, isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till March 21.
