Google Maps, one of the most used navigation apps of all time has a nifty feature that lets you set work and home addresses, so you can easily navigate to these locations without having to type in the search bar.
Saving these locations can also help you save time, especially when you are in an unknown place and want to quickly see directions to go back to work or home. While the option is available on both the web and mobile versions of Google Maps, modifying addresses is easier on the mobile app.
If you are new to Google Maps or have recently changed cities, moved to a new place or changed your work location, here’s a quick guide to help you set or change your home and work addresses.
Set or update Google Maps home and work addresses
1. Open Google Maps on your phone and press the profile picture button on the top right.
2. Tap on Settings and find and click on the ‘Edit home or work’.
3. Now, tap on the three-dot menu to change the home address and choose ‘Edit home’. You can also do the same for the work address.
4. Google Maps will now ask if you want to use your current location, type in your address or choose a location from on the map.
5. When you are done choosing the location, tap on the ‘Save’ button.
For those who want to update their home or work addresses and don’t want to go through Settings, navigate to the ‘Saved’ section by tapping the button on the bottom bar and you will see your locations saved. From here, you can tap the three-dot menu next to the location and edit the address accordingly.
Once you add your home and work addresses to Google Maps, the next time you open the app, you can quickly get directions to these places by pressing the button that appears under the search bar. Tapping on these buttons will show you the directions to that place and the time required to reach there.
