Every Indian citizen must have their Aadhaar Card error-free as it acts as the best evidence of their demographic information. It features a unique 12-digit number, which is linked to the person’s biometric. As it serves as a universal identity, the Aadhaar system “enables mobility to millions of people who migrate from one part of the country to another by providing a portable proof of identity that can be verified through online authentication,” as per the official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

People who acquired their Aadhaar Card more than ten years ago and want to update any piece of information on it can now undergo the revalidation process. This can be done online through the UIDAI portal as well as by visiting an Aadhaar enrolment centre. Apart from basic information like name, address, mobile number, email ID, gender and date of birth, people will be able to link new biometrics (fingerprint and iris) to their existing card.
Individuals are required to submit necessary documents which serve as proof of the updated information. The window will remain open till 14 March. If an Aadhaar Card has any kind of clerical error, it can also be reverified during this period.
