WhatsApp testing passkeys for iOS
The report mentions that in a recent WhatsApp update for iPhone users WhatsApp is testing a new feature called passkeys. This feature to make account verification easier and better. Some users in the beta test can now try out this passkey feature after updating to the latest version.
Previously, WhatsApp had introduced this feature for Android users, and now iPhone users get to join in. The passkey adds an extra layer of security and convenience. It’s an optional feature, so users can choose whether to use it or not.
For those who opt for the passkey, setting it up is simple. Once configured, the passkey is saved on iCloud Keychain. This means users can log in using their device passcode or biometric authentication instead of the usual 6-digit code.

Enabling the passkey feature enhances both security and convenience. It simplifies the login process, aligning with modern authentication methods. This update is all about improving the user experience and catering to individual preferences.
It’s important to note that the passkey feature is currently available to some beta testers through the TestFlight app. The rollout to more users is expected in the coming weeks. If users face any issues during setup, waiting for the next update might solve the problem.
