Our parents’ warnings about mobile phones being distractions seem increasingly accurate as videos proliferate online showcasing people’s inattentiveness due to their devices. A recent viral video gaining traction on social media perfectly illustrates this point, featuring a woman accidentally sitting on a stranger’s motorcycle instead of her partner’s, much to the amusement of viewers. The majority found the clip hilarious, though some remained sceptical.

The amusing footage captures a moment in Indonesia where a woman, clad in a white top and black pants, disembarks from her partner’s two-wheeler at a fuel station. Unbeknownst to her, another motorcycle is parked in front of theirs as she wanders off, engrossed in her phone. Moments later, assuming the nearby motorcycle to be her partner’s, she casually sits on it, still engrossed in her device, oblivious to her surroundings. Only when her partner taps her shoulder does she realise her mistake, displaying a mix of shock and embarrassment as she quickly relocates to her rightful place behind her partner. The video concludes with the woman laughing while her partner appears visibly perturbed.
