Google Pay App Shutting Down: Google Pay, the go-to application for online transactions, has long been favored by users worldwide, including in India, Singapore, and the United States.

However, a significant decision has been made regarding its future. Google is set to discontinue the old version of the Google Pay app, commonly known as ‘GPay,’ which is prominently displayed on Android homescreens and utilized for payments and financial transactions. Notably, this decision pertains solely to the United States, thus alleviating concerns for users in India.
This announcement was made via a company blog post. As per the update, GPay will cease operations in the United States on June 4, 2024. However, users in India and Singapore can rest assured as the service will continue unaffected in these regions.

The company clarified through its blog that the decision aims to streamline the user experience, resulting in the discontinuation of the standalone Google Pay app in the US while maintaining services in India and Singapore.
Discontinuation of Peer-to-Peer Payments
With the impending closure of the app, Google has also halted peer-to-peer payments. The blog post outlines that following the app’s shutdown in the US, American users will no longer be able to send or receive money through the platform.

Instead, Google advises users in the US to transition to the Google Wallet app. The company assures its users of ongoing updates and support throughout the transition period.
