Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially flagged off Jammu and Kashmir’s first electric train. The MEMU train was flagged off during PM Modi’s second visit to the union territory since the abrogation of Article 370.

Indian Railways will commence the train services on the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section from today onwards.
PM Modi Flags Off Jammu and Kashmir‘s First Electric Train
With the flagging off the train, PM Modi inaugurated the 48 km long rail link from Banihal to Sangaldan.
The train has been introduced on the newly electrified stretch between Sangaldan station and Baramulla station, which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link Project (USBRL).

This new train will also be running on clean fuel in the Valley and is eco-friendly.
