New Delhi: Jeevan Pramaan is a digital service equipped with biometric technology designed for pensioners. It caters to pensioners from the Central Government, State Government, or any other governmental organisation. In India, there are over one crore families reliant on pensions as a crucial part of their income. This includes around fifty lakh pensioners from the Central Government, another fifty lakh from various State and Union Territory Governments, and other government agencies.
Additionally, there are over twenty-five lakh pensioners from the Army and Defense Personnel. Jeevan Pramaan aims to provide a convenient and efficient way for pensioners to access their benefits securely.

What Is A Digital Life Certificate?
The Digital Life Certificate for pensioners, a scheme initiated by the Government of India known as Jeevan Pramaan, aims to tackle this issue by digitising the entire process of obtaining the life certificate. Its goal is to simplify and streamline the procedure for pensioners, making it more convenient and hassle-free. Jeevan Pramaan utilises the Aadhaar platform for the biometric authentication of the pensioner. Upon successful authentication, a Digital Life Certificate is generated and stored in the Life Certificate Repository. Pension Disbursing Agencies can then access the certificate online.

How To Get A Life Certificate?
Getting a digital Life certificate is hassle-free and can be obtained through various Jeevan Pramaan Centres which are being operated by CSCs, Banks, Government offices or by using the client application on any PC/mobile/tablet. Download the PC/Mobile/Tablet application to register for a Life Certificate.
After a successful authentication, an SMS acknowledgement is sent to your mobile number including your Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID- External website that opens in a new window. The certificates are stored in the Life Certificate Repository for making them available anytime and anywhere for the pensioner and the Pension Disbursing Agency.
How To Submit Life Certificate Online?
Step 1: Begin by downloading the Jeevan Pramaan Portal web or Android application, accessible online.
Step 2: Next, the pensioner or the operator should register or authenticate the biometric device. This involves providing the Aadhaar number and mobile number, followed by entering the OTP. On the subsequent screen, input the name and email, then click on ‘Scan Finger’. Additionally, you can scan the iris using a scanner connected to the device.
Step 3: Once the process is complete, a message confirming the successful registration of the device will appear. Simply click on ‘OK’ to proceed, initiating the pensioner authentication process.
Step 4: Provide the Aadhaar number, mobile number, and OTP once again. Proceed by entering essential information such as the pensioner’s name, type of number, PPO number, disbursing agency, bank account number, and other relevant details.
Step 5: Select the ‘Scan finger’ option, and the life certificate will be displayed upon successful biometric verification. You will receive the Pramaan ID via SMS for reference.
How To Submit Life Certificate Offline
To obtain your Jeevan Pramaan, visit the nearest CSC or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Provide your Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, Account Number, and the name of the Pension Sanctioning Authority. Then, undergo biometric authentication by providing your fingerprints. Upon successful Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, a unique acknowledgement called Pramaan ID will be generated along with your Jeevan Pramaan.
