An intense spell of rainfall and snowfall activity is likely to batter the western Himalayan region from February 17 to 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated in the latest weather bulletin.

Owing to the fresh active western disturbance, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms are predicted over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on February 18, 2024.
Besides under the influence of the anticyclone over the north Bay of Bengal, wet spells over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim are predicted today, IMD mentioned.

Delhi sees clear day
On Wednesday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature hovered around 24 degrees Celsius. Delhi mainly saw a clear sky during the day.
The relative humidity at 8.30 am was recorded at 97 percent, the IMD’s weather bulletin said.
The air quality index (AQI) stood at 356 at 9 am.

Minimum temperature forecast
As per IMD, no significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over northwest India during the next 3 days and rise by 2-3 °C thereafter. Further, minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 °C in east India & Gujarat for the next 3 days.
Meanwhile, most parts of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan recorded a minimum temperature in the range of 8-12°C. These are normal over many parts of northwest India and above normal over the rest of north India. Notably, the lowest minimum temperature of 5.5°C was reported at Amritsar (Punjab) on Wednesday.
