It serves multiple purposes, allowing you to verify various items electronically (such as statutory forms, Income Tax Returns, refund re-issue requests, and responses to notices), log in to the e-filing portal, or reset your password. So, whether you need to confirm details, access your e-Filing account, or update your password, the EVC is a handy and secure way to complete these actions.

The Generate Electronic Verification Code (EVC) service is exclusively for individual registered users on the e-filing portal. This service offers the following benefits:

  • E-verify various items such as statutory forms, Income Tax Returns, refund reissue requests, and responses to any notices.
  • Log in to the e-filing portal.
  • Reset your password.

The final step in completing your income tax return (ITR) involves verifying it. It’s crucial to complete the e-verification within 120 days; otherwise, your ITR will be deemed invalid. Generating EVC through Bank ATM:

Step 1: Visit your nearest bank ATM and swipe your debit card.

Step 2: Enter PIN.

Step 3: Select Generate EVC for Income tax Filing.

An EVC will be sent to your mobile number and email ID registered with the e-filing portal.

Note:

You must have linked the PAN with your respective bank account and the same PAN should be registered with the e-filing portal.

List of Banks through which you can generate EVC through the Bank ATM option – Axis Bank Ltd, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India.
