Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has been named as the chairperson of the INDIA alliance. The decision was announced following a virtual meeting of the INDIA bloc leaders on Saturday afternoon.

Moreover, JD(U) leader & Bihar CM Nitish Kumar rejects the post of convenor of INDIA alliance, according to sources. The Bihar CM suggested that someone from the Congress party should take responsibility of the post.
INDIA or ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ is a group of opposition parties, including the Congress. Leaders of the INDIA bloc convened virtually on Saturday afternoon to discuss issues pertaining to the coalition, including participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, seat-sharing agendas, and other concerns.
While Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee chose not to participate in the meeting, Sharad Pawar, the leader of the NCP, joined the INDIA bloc leaders’ meeting from Mumbai over video conference. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, the leader of the DMK, and MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, attended from Chennai.
The leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress met earlier on Friday to discuss seat-sharing. The leaders of both parties called the meeting at Mukul Wasnik’s home a “positive move”.
Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, stated on Friday on Twitter: “INDIA party leaders will be meeting over Zoom tomorrow, January 13th, 2024.
