Batting maverick Suryakumar Yadav has provided a major update on his road to recovery from the ankle injury that he sustained during the T20I series against South Africa. The flamboyant batter took the first baby step and was seen knocking a few balls but he suggested that he is yet to recover fully.
Meanwhile, in a recent report in the Times of India, Suryakumar has been diagnosed with sports hernia.

“SKY was recently diagnosed with sports hernia. He is currently recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. In two-three days, he will fly for Munich, Germany, to get operated for it,” a source in the BCCI told Times of India.
The batting maverick missed out a place in the Afghanistan T20Is due to injury and will also be unavailable for selection in the five-match Test series against England.
After the ODI World Cup 2023, Suryakumar led the Indian team in a couple of T20I series against Australia and South Africa in the absence of Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma.

However, during the third T20I against South Africa, Surya hurt his ankle while fielding.
The flamboyant batter made 18 T20I appearances last year and registered 733 runs at an average of 48.86 including 2 hundreds and 3 half-centuries.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar alongside Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza, Ugandan sensation Alpesh Ramjani and New Zealand’s Mark Chapman have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award for 2023.
The 33-year-old was recently seen spending some time off with his wife Devisha Shetty in the United Kingdom. His wife had posted a photo on her Instagram story where it was revealed that the batter was seen wearing a pneumatic walking boot.
