Bajaj twins, Infosys, Tata Motors, NTPC and Wipro were the leading gainers on the Sensex. Adani Ports was the additional winner on Nifty.
Sensex Today: Equity benchmark indices snapped three day losses to edge higher on Thursday, despite losses in other global markets. The BSE Sensex rose 300 points to 71,650 and the NSE Nifty50 gained 78 points to 21,600.

On the flip side, Tata Steel, Maruti, BPCL and Bajaj Auto were among the lead frontline drags.
Bajaj Finance was up nearly 4 per cent after its AUM crossed the Rs 3 lakh crore-threshold for the first time in Dec quarter.
The broader markets were firm too. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gained up to 0.77 per cent.
Nifty Financials and IT indices led sectoral gains. FMCG was also firm while pharma pocket was flat.
Global Cues
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Nikkei resumed trading after an extended holiday with an over 1-per cent cut. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.88 per cent, China’s Shanghai Composite dropped 0.55 per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.4 per cent, and Australia’s ASX200 dipped 0.25 per cent.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrhaial Average dropped 0.76 per cent, while the broad-market S&P500 lost 0.8 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite lost 1.18 per cent.
