And all users currently get 15GB of data for free on Google Drive. But, with the WhatsApp chat backup being included in this 15GB storage, users have a higher chance of exhausting their storage limit quickly. After all, since WhatsApp chat back-ups contain photos as well, 15GB is quite a small storage capacity.

But there’s some good news for users too. You can get additional storage on Google Drive by paying just Rs 35 per month. How? Read on to find out.

You can get an additional 100GB of storage for your WhatsApp chats by subscribing to Google One. For the unversed, Google One is the term for subscription plans associated with Google Drive. The subscription offers three main plans on a monthly or annual basis. Monthly costs include Basic (100GB) at Rs 130 per month, Standard (200GB) at Rs 210 per month, and Premium (2TB) at Rs 650 per month. However, Google is running a special discount right now in which you can get the basic plan for Rs 35, standard plan for Rs 50 and premium plan for Rs 160 per month.

However, it is to be noted that this fee will only be valid for three months after which you will be charged normally.

In addition to this, there is also a special discount on Annual Basic and Standard plans. The basic plan, which originally costs Rs 390 for three months, will cost you Rs 100 for the same period. On the other hand, the Standard plan will cost you Rs 160 for three months instead of Rs 630. The Premium tier gets no discount when it comes to Annual plans.

However, if you aren’t keen on getting a Google One subscription, there is a way to utilise your storage smartly and save up the extra storage for backing up your WhatsApp chats. Given that photos consume more space, you can open WhatsApp, navigate to Settings, proceed to Storage and Data, and finally select Manage Storage.
