Amritsar to Delhi Vande Bharat Express: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, 2023 flagged off the new Amritsar to Delhi Junction Vande Bharat Express train. The new Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off remotely by the Prime Minister who was at the Ayodhya Dham railway station.
Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high speed train that can attain speeds of 160 kmph, track and signalling infrastructure permitting.

It is a AC chair car and Executive Chair car service. The new self-propelled train will be faster than the Shatabdi Express train between Delhi and Amritsar. While Shatabdi takes over 6 hours, Vande Bharat Express will take less than that.
Train number 22487/22488 Delhi-Amritsar-Delhu Vande Bharat Express: Schedule, stoppages
Train number 20488 Amritsar-Delhi Junction Vande Bharat Express will leave from the Amritsar station at 8:20 AM and reach Delhi Junction at 1:50 PM taking 5 hours and 30 minutes. En route the train will stop at Beas, Jalandhar Cantt, Phagwara, Ludhiana and Ambala Cantt stations.

In the reverse direction on the same day, Train number 20487 Delhi-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express will depart from Delhi Junction at 3:15 PM to reach Amritsar at 8:45 PM taking 5 hours and 30 minutes.
The train will run on all days of the week except for Friday. Train number 22487/22488 Amritsar-Delhi-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express will begin regular service from January 6, 2024.

The ticket price for both the Chair Car and Executive Chair Car train of the Amritsar-Delhi-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express is not yet known. Watch this space and we will update the fare once IRCTC releases it.
Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flagged off 5 other Vande Bharat Express trains and two new Amrit Bharat Express trains. The latter is a new 130 kmph capable push-pull train for non-AC travel.
