In a recent development in the Reserve Bank of India threat case, Mumbai Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested three people from Gujarat’s Vadodara, who sent a threat email to the RBI office.
Mumbai Crime Branch officials are investigating further regarding the motive of the email. Notably, the mail claimed to be from Khilafat India.

The Reserve Bank of India and two other banks — HDFC and ICICI banks — in Mumbai received a bomb threat email on Tuesday at around 10:50 am. The ID from where the threat email was sent is – [email protected].
The email demanded the immediate resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. A case has been registered at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar (MRA) Marg Police Station.
“We have planted “11” bombs in different locations of Mumbai RBI along with private sector banks have executed the biggest scam in the history of India,” the email read.

“This scam involves RBI Governer ‘Shaktikanta Das’, Finance Minister ‘Nirmala Sitharaman’, some of the top banking officials & some renowned ministers of India we have sufficient solid proofs for the same,” the mail added.
“We demand that both RBI Governor and Finance Minister to immediately resign from their post’s and release a press statement with full disclosure of the scam. we also demand government to give them both and all those who are involved the punishment they deserve. if our demands are not met before 1:30 pm, all the 11 bombs will blast one by one,” the email read.

The sender of the email also mentioned the locations where the bombs were placed. The locations mentioned by the accused are – RBI’s New Central Office Building-Fort-Mumbai, HDFC House Churchgate-Mumbai and ICICI Bank Towers-BKC-Mumbai.
The sender claimed that the bombs would explode at 1:30 pm. After receiving the threat email, the security was tightened. However, it turned out to be a hoax threat.
