The man was shocked when he found a tablet inside the dish he ordered through Swiggy.
A Mumbai man was in for a huge shock when he received his food order recently. While he prepared himself for a tasty meal, he had little idea about what he was going to find there. Ordered via Swiggy from an iconic cafe in the city, Ujwal Puri found a medicine tablet inside the dish he ordered.
A photographer by profession, Puri shared a picture and video on X, formerly Twitter, to explain the situation. The man ordered Chicken in Oyster Sauce from Leopold Cafe in Colaba. Leopold Cafe is one of the oldest Iranian cafes in the city, frequently visited by locals as well as tourists. Notably, this cafe was one of the locations during the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Calling it a ‘Christmas Surprise’, Puri mentioned on X, “My Mumbai Christmas Surprise ordered food from Swiggy from Leopold Colaba got this half cooked medicine in my food @Swiggy.”
Ujwal Puri also posted a brief video showing the medicine inside his food. “Just found this in My food from Leopold (Chicken in Oyster Sauce),” he wrote in the caption.

Swiggy Cares was quick to respond to Puri’s post and said, “We have got your DM, see you there.”
Meanwhile, internet users were furious over the incident and slammed the restaurant staff. A user said, “Swiggy, what is this behaviour, you sent half-cooked cooked medicine. At least, ask the restaurant to cook properly.”

Another person tagged the online food ordering and delivering platform and wrote, “Damn they sent a medicine because they don’t want your stomach to get upset. @Swiggy seriously?”
“Swiggy support is useless. They just have a support employee say we will look into this and we “assure” you we will take care to not repeat. Then find new mistakes to make every day,” wrote another user.
One of the accounts mentioned, “Leopold cafe is pathetic since last couple of years! Everything is unhygienic – place, food, kitchen, cutlery, staff, ambience and even furniture. Please exempt Swiggy’s poor delivery boy. He was the messenger, don’t shoot the messenger.”
“Leopold’s food quality has been deteriorating over time. But this is a new low! What a way to run a Christmas meal,” another individual stated.
Narrating his own experience, one of them also asserted, “Have been to this cafe. The hygiene issue was quite visible. Not surprised at all.”
