Stock market holiday in December 2023: BSE, NSE to remain shut on Monday for Christmas; trading to resume the next day

Is stock market closed open on Christmas: The domestic stock, money, and commodity markets will remain shut on Monday, December 25, on account of Christmas. According to the BSE website, bseindia.com, trading across cash, derivatives, and SLB, or securities lending and borrowing segments, will be unavailable on December 25.

Christmas market holiday December 2023: Domestic financial markets will remain shut on Monday, December 25, for Christmas. Trading in the country’s capital, debt, forex and commodity markets will resume the next day, on Tuesday, December 26. 

December 25 will be the last trading holiday of the year for the country’s financial markets.

BSE market holiday on December 25 

Trading across the cash, derivatives, and securities and lending and borrowing segments will be unavailable on December 25, and resume on December 26, according to the BSE website, bseindia.com.

When will trading resume on stock exchanges BSE and NSE?

The country’s stock market will resume trading normally on Tuesday at 9:15 am, following a 15-minute pre-opening session, according to the websites of BSE and NSE.

MCX Christmas Day holiday

Commodity exchange MCX will remain closed for both the morning and evening sessions on December 25, and resume trading on December 26, according to its website, MCXIndia.com. 

MCX conducts morning sessions from 9 am to 5 pm, and evening sessions from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.

The country’s financial markets will remain shut for an additional 14 days, excluding weekends, in 2024 on account of festivals and other holidays, according to a circular by NSE.
