MUMBAI: Zee and the India unit of Japan’s Sony will discuss an extension of the merger deadline, the company helmed by Punit Goenka said on Wednesday.

Zee said it has received a communication from Sony and that they will enter into negotiations “in good faith” and “with a view to discuss the extension of the date required to make the merger scheme effective by a reasonable period of time”.

The two companies, according to the original agreement, were suppose to be merged by December 21.
