Taking a career break is a significant decision that many make at various stages of their lives – either for personal reasons, family commitments, pursuing further education, or for simply taking a pause to reassess and recharge.

But a career break comes with worries of its own – what if I do not get a good job when I plan to return? What if the job market isn’t great when I do plan to return?
While it is hard to evade such worries, but in order to make the transition to the job market a smooth one, some companies offer programs.
Here are some of the top programs offered by companies to professionals after a career break:
ReEntry program by JP Morgan
J.P. Morgan The ReEntry Program offers experienced professionals, who are currently on an extended career break of at least two years and have the desire to reenter the workforce, the support and resources needed to relaunch their careers.
ReEntry Program is a 15-week paid fellowship program, beginning in March and ending in June, with the prospect of an offer for permanent employment at the end of the program. The program consists of professional skills workshops, on-the-job training, coupled with coaching and developmental experiences.
High performing participants could also get a job at JP Morgan. Applications for the 2024 ReEntry Program will close on January 31, 2024.
India Returnship Program by Goldman Sachs
The Goldman Sachs Returnship program in India is designed for women who are rejoining the workforce after an extended period of absence.
This is a paid internship programme of 12 weeks which offers opportunities in a variety of divisions to strengthen technical skills, provide access to professional development and explore the opportunities available at Goldman Sachs.
The programme provides the following:
12 weeks of on the job learning and exploration with a diverse community of professionals from a wide range of backgrounds
Access to the vast network of resources at Goldman Sachs through continual leadership development, support, and mentorship from a dedicated Returnship program team
Support to navigate the transition into full time employment
Several sessions focused on building community and creating a seamless transition experience back into the workforce
For the 2024 India Returnship Program of Goldman Sachs, the last date to apply is December 18, 2023. The program is expected to take place tentatively from March 2024- June 2024.
Encore program by Barclays
Encore! is one of Barclays’ flagship diversity and citizenship programmes.

It helps participants re-enter the workforce by providing them with the opportunity to refresh their skills through leadership and development training, mentorship, networking opportunities and a paid working role for the duration of the scheme.
It accepts those applicants who have been out of work for 12 months.
