Bengaluru residents can now enjoy a convenient journey to Nandi Hills, just 60 km away, thanks to an extended electric train service.

The South Western Railway (SWR) has expanded its MEMU (mainline electric multiple unit) trains, previously running on the airport route from Devanahalli to Chickballapur as reported by MoneyControl.
After successfully electrifying the stretch between Yelahanka and Chickballapur, the SWR has decided to introduce electric trains on this route, bringing relief to commuters.
Kusuma Hariprasad, Additional Divisional Manager of Bengaluru division, officially announced the extension of train services to Chickballapur on December 11.

Despite facing delays in launching electric trains due to various reasons, including electrification completion, the SWR is now set to streamline travel options for residents.
Currently, diesel multiple unit (DEMU) trains like 06387/06388 KSR Bengaluru-Kolar-Cantonment and 16549/16550 KSR Bengaluru – Kolar- KSR Bengaluru DEMU make stops at Nandi station.
