Yes, while the naming is confusing, this works exactly as you would think. The audio messages that you send using this WhatsApp feature will auto-destruct once they are played. Meta notes that this would add an extra layer of privacy for users.
This can be particularly useful when sharing security-sensitive data such as credit card details, banking information, or passwords. You don’t need to worry about your data being stolen or replayed after you initially share it.

To mark a distinction and align with the “View Once” feature for photos and videos, WhatsApp will mark audio messages sent as “View Once” with a “one-time” icon.
When Is It Rolling Out?
WhatsApp notes that this feature is rolling out to users globally in the coming days. Like other updates, it could be possible that this is a staged rollout and not everyone gets the update together.
