The new Realme phone packs many a spec, not different from close cousin OnePlus 12.
Realme GT 5 Pro has officially launched in China today, per schedule. The hardware seems eerily familiar. The new Realme phone packs many a spec, not different from close cousin OnePlus 12 including Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 5,400mAh battery with 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging, and a BOE OLED screen that can go as high as 4,500 nits. The GT 5 Pro also feels familiar from a user experience point of view bringing LG/Google-like gesture controls. It does all this at a surprisingly aggressive price point, too. The Realme GT 5 Pro starts at CNY 3,399 which roughly translates to about Rs 40,000. The only catch— or bummer— is that it isn’t coming to global markets anytime soon.

Realme GT 5 Pro specs, top features
The Realme GT 5 Pro has a 6.78-inch “8T LTPO Pro-XDR” 1.5K (2780×1264 pixels) resolution display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and a whopping 4,500 nits of local peak brightness (1,600 nits global), sourced from BOE. There’s no rainwater touch tech like the OnePlus 12, but the panel here can go as low as 0.5Hz. Dolby Atmos playback is supported natively, so is 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
Powering the GT 5 Pro is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. Running the show is Realme UI 5 based on Android 14 with a guarantee to get 3 major OS and 5 years of security updates from Realme. Under the hood, the phone has a 5,400mAh battery with 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging. You also get a “3VC cooling system, boasting the largest VC area in the industry’s history, with a heat dissipation area of up to 12,000mm²,” Realme says in a press release.

For photography, the GT 5 Pro has a trio of sensors on the back with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-T808 primary sensor behind an optically stabilised lens (same as the OnePlus 12), 8-megapixel ultrawide, and another 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor behind a periscope-style 3x telephoto that can pull as high as 6x lossless. On the front, it has a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.
The GT 5 Pro comes in a choice of Red Rock, Bright Moon, and Starry Night with the first two made of “high-end nano-skin technology”. The black version uses AG glass. All the variants get a “super-hard aluminium metal middle frame” and IP64 rating. Rounding off the package is a universal IR blaster control, enhanced NFC, X-axis linear motor, and Dolby Atmos dual speakers.
Last but not the least, the Realme GT 5 Pro also supports palm unlock and so, “when the display is off, users can simply open their palm and bring it close to the screen to turn it on and quickly unlock the device,” the release adds. The phone also supports 12 air gestures offering “new ways to interact” with it.
